The heart of the Steamboat restaurant, bar, and shopping scenes; downtown has something to offer for everyone. The locals mountain, Howelsen Hill, is just behind downtown and across the Yampa River. At Howelsen one can nordic ski, downhill ski, tube, or watch competitors fly off the world-class sized ski jump. In the summer months downtown is the epicenter of river tubing, free concerts, farmers markets and a diverse set of festivals.
